TNT KaTropa stayed alive as it escaped past the San Miguel Beermen, 93-88, in the Game 2 of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum Wednesday night.
The KaTropa finally showed composure and sense of urgency they sorely missed in stinging 78-80 Game 1 loss, hitting crucial baskets in the clutch to drag the best-of-three series to a do-or-die match.
Roger Pogoy top scored with 20 points and nine rebounds for TNT. Jayson Castro bounced back from a sour performance the last time out, producing 19 points and nine assists with three steals, including an assist to Troy Rosario in the final 1:04 mark that led to a triple, and a tough basket with 29.2 seconds to go that served as a dagger.
Rosario continued to provide a steady performance as he tallied 15 points built around three triples with 12 rebounds, while Don Trollano added 12 markers in the crucial win.
On the other side, June Mar Fajardo led all scorers with 26 points coupled with 19 rebounds for a double-double outing. Christian Standhardinger made 18 points and eight rebounds, while Alex Cabagnot supplied 16 markers, three boards, and two assists that just went down the drain.
Game 3 of the series is on Wednesday, April 10 still at the Big Dome.
