TNT KaTropa kept its unbeaten slate intact with an escape act over the NorthPort Batang Pier, 103-100, in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup on Wednesday at the Cuneta Astrodome.
The KaTropa thus improved to 5-0 to stay on top of the team standings, while they sent the Batang Pier reeling to their fourth straight loss.
Losing hold of a double-digit early, TNT made up for it in endgame as Troy Rosario rose to the occasion, burying a three-pointer from the right corner with 1:06 left to play to give the KaTropa a 101-100 lead on the way to their fifth consecutive win.
KJ McDaniels topscored with 30 points to go with 18 rebounds and five assists, while four locals ended up in double figures for TNT, led by Rosario who had 22 points, with 17 of that coming in the fourth period.
Roger Pogoy added 17 points while Jayson Castro and Don Trollano produced 10 markers apiece in the close win.
Garvo Lanete came off the bench to lead the Batang Pier with 23 points, Mychal Ammons had 14 points and 12 boards, Robert Bolick chipped in 12 points, while Kevin Ferrer and Paolo Taha each wound up with at least 10 each in a lost cause as NorthPort dropped to 1-4.
