TNT KaTropa overcame a slow start to frustrate the Meralco Bolts, 116-113, in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup on Saturday night at the Big Dome.
Down 19 points early, the KaTropa upended Meralco to book an early ticket to the playoffs, as they kept their clean slate intact with a 6-0 card.
KJ McDaniels was the biggest thorn on the side of the Bolts, as the former NBA cager had a 51-point explosion to go with 10 rebounds, four blocks, two steals, and a steal in the comeback win.
Roger Pogoy and Jayson Castro stepped up for the TNT locals, finishing with 23 and 21 markers, respectively, while Troy Rosario added 12 points.
Failing to protect a double-digit lead, the Bolts thus got their winning streak snapped to three games as they dropped to 3-2 in the standings.
Two-time Best Import Allen Durham led the Meralco with 43 points, 12 rebounds, and nine assists, as Chris Newsome and Baser Amer chipped in 14 and 13 markers, respectively.
