NorthPort Batang Pier survived a late scare by the Magnolia Hotshots, fashioning out a 102-99 win in the 2019 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum Wednesday.

The Batang Pier led by as much as 16 points before hanging tough down the stretch to rejoin the Blackwater Elite at the top of the team standings with a 5-1 win-loss record.

Weapons were aplenty for NorthPort, foremost was Sean Anthony who wound up with game-high 22 points on top of eight rebounds, five steals, and four assists.

Aside from Anthony, who made clutch baskets late to seal the deal for Batang Pier, six players also ended up in double figures, as Paolo Taha had 16 points, while Mo Tautuaa produced 14 points and 11 rebounds.

Jonathan Grey scored 14 points as well off the bench, Nico Elorde made 12 markers, while Robert Bolick had an all-around game of 11 points, nine assists, and five rebounds.

Ian Sangalang finished with 21 points and 10 rebounds, while new import James Farr unimpressed in his debut after tallying 11 points on 5-of-26 shooting alongside 14 rebounds, four assists, four steals, and a block for the Hotshots who dropped to 0-2.
