NLEX Road Warriors erased a 28-point deficit then stunned the Barangay Ginebra in overtime, 113-111, in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup on Sunday morning at the Coca-Cola Arena in Dubai.
Jericho Cruz hit a clutch three-pointer with 20 ticks left, capping a riveting NLEX comeback to immediately recover from a defeat at the hands of San Miguel yesterday.
The win thus improved the record of the Road Warriors to 4-1, good for a third place in the team standings, while the Gin Kings absorbed their second straight loss and fell to 1-2.
Import Olu Ashaolu topscored the Road Warriors with 25 points, along with seven rebounds and three assists. Poy Erram produced 21 points, five rebounds, two steals, and two blocks, Philip Paniamogan supplied 20 points built on six triples, while Cruz provided 13 points, four boards, and four assists in the win.
Import Justin Brownlee led Ginebra with a triple-double of 46 points, 20 rebounds, and 10 assists. Greg Slaughter and Stanley Pringle had 19 points apiece while LA Tenorio chipped in 12 markers in a losing effort.
