Meralco Bolts compounded the woes of the Alaska Aces after cruising to a 101-75 win in the 2019 PBA Governors’ Cup on Friday at the SM Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
With the rout, the Bolts improved to 2-1 and gained a share of fourth place with Columbian in the team standings, while they kept the Cariaso-led team winless, as Alaska fell to 0-4 in the season-ending conference despite the arrival of a new import in Franko House.
The Bolts pulled away for good in the third period, led by Baser Amer who sparked the breakaway by scoring 14 points including three triples. He finished with a game-high 27 points on 6-of-11 shooting from three-point range.
Allen Durham matched Amer’s performance with a near triple-double of 25 points, 15 rebounds, and nine assists, while Raymond Almazan continued to play consistently for the Bolts with 15 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Chris Banchero and Simon Enciso paced the struggling Aces with 12 markers apiece, as House, who replaced injured import Justin Watts, ended up with only eight points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists in his debut.
