Phoenix Pulse Fuel Masters averted disaster as it hurdled the San Miguel Beermen in Game Three, 92-90, in the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals on Sunday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
Finally displaying immense end-game poise they have been missing in Games One and Two, the Fuel Masters refused to collapse this time to notch their breakthrough win in the best-of-seven series, trimming the deficit to 2-1.
Matthew Wright stood tall for Phoenix in the clutch, making all of his six free throws inside the final 49.6 seconds to keep the Beermen at bay. As a result, Wright ended up with 18 markers along with three rebounds, two assists, a steal and a block.
Calvin Abueva provided 18 points as well on top of 13 rebounds, five assists, and two steals. Justin Chua had 15 points and seven rebounds, while RJ Jazul made 14 markers and eight boards in the hard-earned win.
June Mar Fajardo led the way for the defending four-time All-Filipino champs Beermen with 22 points and 19 rebounds coupled with two blocks.
Game Four of the semifinals series is on Tuesday, April 23 at the Cuneta Astrodome in Pasay City.
