San Miguel Beer came out on fire and dominated the Barangay Ginebra, 102-90, to take Game 1 of their semifinal series in the 2018 PBA Philippine Cup on Friday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
The defending champions lighted it from downtown, knocking down 14 of their 29 three-point attempts, with Marcio Lassiter and Arwind Santos having five triples apiece.
Santos heated up early for the Beermen, firing away 13 of his game-high 23 points in the first two quarters to propel them to a 50-41 lead at the half.
A three-pointer by Lassiter, who finished with 17 markers, five rebounds, and five assists, gave San Miguel their largest lead at 64-45, 7:11 left in the third.
The Gin Kings never recovered from that point on as SMB continued to punish them from inside out, and even role players like Von Pessumal and Matt Ganuelas-Rosser delivered well for coach Leo Austria, with the former tallying 18 points and three boards in just 19 minutes.
