NLEX Road Warriors gun for second victory while Meralco Bolts hope to bounce back from last week’s defeat as the two team face off on today’s opening game.

In their first game last week, NLEX was able to hack a win in overtime thriller against Alaska Aces.

Outlasting a team like Alaska Aces (which by the way were last season’s runners up in two conferences) in a down the wire game, NLEX Road Warriors sure are progressing and are on the right path under new head coach Yeng Guiao’s guidance.

“It would be a positive validation of our progress if we can put together back-to-back wins. And we are eager to prove that we are improving and that we can play at their level,”said Guiao.

And today, they will try to prove that last game’s victory was no fluke as they clash with another runner up in Meralco Bolts.

Meralco Bolts had a rough debut last Sunday as Blackwater Elite stopped them from getting their first win courtesy of Denok Miranda’s game-winner.

But the good thing for Bolts is Cliff Hodge who has had an all-around production last week when he almost flirted with triple-double of 14 points, 9 rebounds, and 8 assists.

Still adjusting from Jimmy Alapag’s retirement, guards Jonathan Grey, Baser Amer, and reigning ROY Chris Newsome delivered well by combining for 30 points.

NLEX will once again rely on second mythical team member Sean Anthony after the forward exploded for 21 points and 14 rebounds.

NLEX and Meralco Bolts will be the curtain-raisers of today’s games at 3:00 p.m at the Smart Araneta Coliseum.
