Magnolia Hotshots continued its surge as it came away with an 82-74 win in the Game Five of the 2019 PBA Philippine Cup semifinals, Wednesday night at the Cuneta Astrodome.
Digging out of a 0-2 hole, the Hotshots now have turned the tables as they picked up their third straight victory to take the series lead from Rain or Shine, 3-2, in the best-of-seven affair.
Mark Barroca and Jio Jalalon led the offense for Magnolia with 14 markers apiece, but it was veteran Rafi Reavis who came through with a clutch performance, scoring five of the team’s last nine points inside the final two minutes, including a three-point play and a dagger lay-up that closed the comeback windows for Rain or Shine.
Reavis ended up with nine points, Rodney Brondial had nine as well, while Ian Sangalang and Robbie Herndorn chipped in eight markers apiece as Paul Lee struggled and went scoreless in the match.
Gabe Norwood showed the way for the Elasto Painters with 15 points and five rebounds. James Yap had 12 points on 3-of-10 shooting along with three boards and two assists, while Mark Borboran added 11 markers in a losing effort.
Game Six is set on Friday, April 26, at Ynares Center in Antipolo City.
