Magnolia Hotshots unleashed its full might in the second half as it dominated the TNT KaTropa, 111-89, in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City, Wednesday night.
As a result, the Hotshots broke out of a three-game losing streak and registered their fourth win against four losses, while the KaTropa slipped to 6-2.
Paul Lee rediscovered his lethal form and sparked Magnolia’s second-half blitz, unloading 17 of his game-high 25 points to turn a 43-48 deficit to a 79-73 advantage at the end of three quarters.
The Hotshots zoomed further away in the final frame, as Brondial, Dela Rosa, and Jalalon conspired with Jackson in a 20-3 onslaught that gave them a 99-76 cushion midway through the quarter.
Justin Jackson contributed 18 points, 19 rebounds, seven assists and two blocks. Rodney Brondial had 16 points on 7-of-9 shooting along with eight rebounds, while Jio Jalalon had a bounce-back performance, tallying 13 points, six assists, five boards, and four steals for Magnolia.
For the KaTropa, Terrence Romeo picked up the cudgels with 17 points, seven dimes, and four boards as Josh Smith was held to just 12 points and 11 rebounds.
