Even without an import, TNT KaTropa still made easy work of the Blackwater Elite, 120-101, in the 2018 PBA Commissioner’s Cup Friday at the Big Dome.
The huge victory enabled the KaTropa to go up 4-1 and claim a share of lead with Rain or Shine in the team standings. Blackwater, on the other hand, remained winless after six games.
Despite parting ways with Jeremy Tyler, TNT drew solid performance from the locals, as seven players ended up in double-digit scoring.
Ryan Reyes spearheaded the well-distributed offense with 18 points, four assists, three steals and two rebounds off the bench, while Troy Rosario contributed 17 points and 11 rebounds. Roger Pogoy produced 15 points and seven boards, Jayson Castro chipped in 14 points, five caroms, and four dimes, while Anthony Semerad had 14 points on 5-of-6 shooting.
Terrence Romeo tallied 12 points, four rebounds, and two assists, while Jericho Cruz had an all-around outing, making 11 markers, five boards, five assists, and three steals.
The KaTropa didn’t trail after the first quarter and led by double digits for most of the second half, thanks to a blistering run in the third period in which they took an 87-72 cushion that ballooned to 102-82 midway through the final frame.
Poy Erram took the cudgels for Blackwater, finishing with 16 points, nine rebounds, and four blocks, Paul Zamar had 15 markers, while Jarrid Famous was held to just 11 points and 12 boards. Mike Digregorio and Renz Palma added 14 and 12 points respectively, in a losing effort.
